Support our Troops when you donate your extra candy.

As the Halloween season wraps up and the sugar rush begins to fade, many of us find ourselves with an abundance of leftover candy. While it’s tempting to stash it away for a rainy day (or late-night snack), there’s a more impactful way to put that candy to good use: donate your extra candy to the troops.

Why Donate Candy to the Troops?

Our servicemen and women make incredible sacrifices to protect our freedom and way of life. Being away from home, especially during the holidays, can be tough. A sweet treat from home can bring a little comfort and a big smile to those stationed far from their loved ones. The decision to donate your extra candy is a simple yet meaningful way to show your appreciation and support for the troops.

How Your Candy Makes a Difference

For many troops stationed abroad, access to the simple pleasures of home, like a favorite candy bar, is limited. Receiving a package filled with Halloween candy can boost morale and remind them that they are remembered and valued back home. Additionally, these treats can be shared with fellow service members, spreading the joy even further.

Beyond the immediate pleasure, your candy donation can also help strengthen the connection between the military and civilian communities. It’s a small gesture that reinforces the bond we share and underscores our gratitude for the sacrifices they make every day.

Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops Program:

Soldiers' Angels is collecting leftover candy for the soldiers!

Soldiers’ Angels Treats for Troops Program (based in Texas) will ship your donated candy to deployed service members around the world or distribute to veterans in VA Hospitals across the country for a sweet treat. You can even register your business to become a collection site and collect extra candy from your community!

Click here and search by your zip code to find a location near you. If there is not a drop-off location near you, you can also email InKind@SoldiersAngels.org for a location where you can ship your candy.

UNFORTUNATELY, if you live near me in the Ventura County area there are no drop off locations but businesses are able to sign up to be a collection site so maybe someone who reads this blog will feel inspired.

Operation Gratitude:

Donate Halloween Candy to Operation Gratitude

Not able to find a location through Soldiers’ Angels? Another option is to check out Operation Gratitude.

Operation Gratitude is a nonprofit organization dedicated to lifting the spirits of U.S. troops, veterans, first responders, and military families by sending them care packages filled with essential items, entertainment, and personal letters of appreciation. Since its inception, the organization has shipped millions of care packages to deployed service members, wounded heroes, and others who serve, providing them with much-needed support and reminders that they are valued and remembered by the American people. Through these thoughtful gestures, Operation Gratitude fosters a strong connection between military and civilian communities, reinforcing the nation’s gratitude for those who serve and sacrifice.

They include a handful of candy in every Care Package sent to soldiers, veterans, and first responders.

A major source of these sweet treats is their popular Halloween Candy Give-Back Program hosted by generous dentists, businesses, groups, and families.

A Sweet Gesture with a Big Impact

When you choose to donate your extra candy, it may seem like a small gesture, but it can have a big impact on the lives of our troops. It’s a simple way to say “thank you” and bring a taste of home to those who are serving far away. This Halloween, instead of letting your leftover candy go to waste, consider turning it into a token of appreciation for the brave men and women who protect our freedom.

Your sweet treats can brighten someone’s day—and that’s something to smile about!
