Discover the Beach Town That Brings Heart, Hope, and Healing to the Jane Austen’s Men Series.
Welcome to Croft Beach—the fictional seaside town where Jane Austen’s men live in 2025. It’s sunny, charming, and full of quiet secrets. But more than anything, it’s the emotional heart of my upcoming novel, Half Agony, Half Hope, and the foundation of the Jane Austen’s Men series.
🌊 What Is Croft Beach?
Croft Beach is a fictional town tucked along the Orange County coastline. Think Dana Point’s laid-back vibes mixed with the literary spirit of Austen’s world. It’s a place where faith is lived out, pain is healed, and love doesn’t always come in the way you expect—but always when it’s needed most.
This is where Rick Wentworth washes ashore after surviving what no one should have to endure. It’s where Fitz Darcy, Ed Ferrars, and Ned Bertram live, serve, and grow as they each face their own dark nights of the soul.
🏡 Why The Name “Croft” Beach?
The name, Croft Beach, is a quiet tribute to Admiral Croft, the brother-in-law of Captain Wentworth in Persuasion.
In Austen’s novel, the Crofts represent stability, mutual respect, and enduring love. That’s exactly the kind of town I wanted for Rick and the other men whose stories will unfold in this series—an anchor in a chaotic world.
🏫 What You’ll Find in Croft Beach
The Jane Austen Academy – A private school shaping the next generation of thoughtful leaders, dreamers, and future Austenesque heroes and heroines.
Croft Beach Community Church – With Senior Pastor Eddie Ferrars and Pastor Emeritus Ned Bertram, this faith-filled church becomes a place of refuge and restoration for many in the series. It’s a place that does not judge. A place that loves and opens their doors to anyone who comes seeking.
Find the seashore, a small fishing lake, small businesses, coffee shops with open mic nights, and just enough small-town drama to stir up your Austen-loving heart.
📖 Welcome to Half Agony, Half Hope
This first novel in the Jane Austen’s Men series is Rick Wentworth’s story. Half Agony, Half Hope is not a traditional Austen retelling—it’s an emotional Christian thriller inspired by the themes of Persuasion and powered by faith, trauma recovery, and the strength of male survivors.
Rick’s story begins in the shadows, but his journey leads him to Croft Beach, where new relationships, old friendships, deep wounds, and glimmers of hope intersect. And here, surrounded by friends like Darcy and mentors like Ned Bertram, Rick begins to believe that healing—real, lasting healing—truly is possible.
☀️ Why Jane Austen’s Men Belong in California in 2025
Why bring Darcy, Wentworth, Ferrars, and Knightley to a California beach town?
Because men are still healing.
Because faith still matters.
Because love and redemption still deserve a voice.
The Jane Austen’s Men series reimagines your favorite heroes as modern men navigating trauma, faith, love, and identity. These aren’t just romances—they’re journeys of redemption, filled with grace, grit, and second chances.

🔑 Final Word about Croft Beach
Croft Beach isn’t just a setting—it’s a place of grace.
It’s where Jane Austen’s men face their pain, rediscover purpose, and begin the slow, faithful work of healing. It’s where faith is lived out in community, and hope begins to grow again, one day at a time.
These men aren’t perfect—but they’re seeking. And in Half Agony, Half Hope, we meet them as they come alongside Rick—walking with him, praying for him, and reminding him that no one heals alone.
Imagine them here.
Then come meet them.

As someone who adores Jane Austen, it’s really sweet to imagine her characters living in a sunny beach town in our time. Croft Beach sounds like a place I’d love to visit!
Thanks for the analysis of Jane Austen’s characters at Croft Beach.
The comparisons between the men were interesting, it added depth to my understanding of the novel :) – nice!
This was such a fun read! I never really thought about Austen’s men in a modern setting like Croft Beach, but it actually makes so much sense. It gave me a whole new way to see them – especially thinking about how they’d act today. Really enjoyed this little twist on something classic!
I am so in love with this book already. I had a sneaking suspicion of where Croft Beach got its name!
This is so cool, I love this! Hey, who wouldn’t want to be in a beautiful setting like Croft Beach. It definitely changes the story that’s for sure; I can just imagine Jane Austen’s Men Thriving in Sunny California strolling along.
What an amazing concept! I love reimagining how characters could be in a different setting entirely. It could be a different story altogether.
Okay, I feel like they would be way more bubbly and brighter with the sun of California! The gloom of rainy days in England might have been weighing down on them before.
