Are you a fan of musical theatre? Are you looking for a way to support live theatre from the comforts of your living room? Here are a handful of live performances that have been preserved for prosperity and time and thanks to Amazon Prime are free to watch.

Driving Miss Daisy: Alfred Uhry‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning play comes to television starring Angela Lansbury as Daisy Werthan, James Earl Jones as her chauffeur, Hoke Colburn, and four-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines reprising his Broadway role as Daisy’s son Boolie. This iconic tale of pride, changing times, and the power of friendship is one of the most beloved American stories of the late twentieth century.

Camelot: See the 1982 Broadway stage revival of the Lerner & Loewe musical starring Richard Harris as a loveable and innocent King Arthur.

Carousel: The Lincoln Center production starring Kelli O’Hara and Nathan Gunn is one of the best filmed live productions I’ve seen with incredible performances.

Kiss Me Kate: See the original Alfred Drake and Patricia Morrison production of Cole Porter‘s Kiss Me Kate in black and white. Fantastic audio. It’s fun to see the differences between the original and more modern productions.

And lastly an absolute favorite live Broadway movie – SHE LOVES ME starring a sensational Laura Benanti and Zachary Levi. The film is available to watch as part of a BroadwayHD subscription ($8.99/month). If you haven’t yet, try a subscription for free for 7 days.
