A.D. The Bible Continues picked up last night from where it left off last Sunday and boy was it an action-packed episode! If possible, I actually found myself liking the second episode more so than the first and that was pretty incredible as my earlier review says.

What is so mesmerizing about this Biblical drama?
– The fantastic ensemble cast and the writers keep bringing in more talented actors (meet Thomas & Roman soldier, Marius, for example, portrayed by Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson and Downton Abbey’s Brendan Patricks)!
– The witty and chill-worthy writing (so many favorite lines of the week including Babou Ceesay’s “We found nothing – and everything.”)
– The great character development; it’s only week 2 and already so many characters are being fleshed out. Take, for instance, Pilate and Caiaphas played oh so incredibly well by Vincent Regan and Richard Coyle.
I could go on and on about the fabulous second episode but would hate to give away any spoilers for those of you who were watching Game of Thrones instead so tune into NBC on demand or Amazon Prime Video and watch for yourself!
One last thought
The first apostles and early Church members did not have it easy. They lived in a time of persecution and misunderstandings and inevitable death but one of the great things that set them apart was as Peter (Adam Levy) told the Zealot last week, “We are fishermen NOT fighters.“
Jesus preached love for ALL people. He died on the cross for ALL people and my sincerest hope is that those of us who watch this show will remember that.
