Good morning! Today is the 20th of April and it has been quite an experience going through this A to Z Challenge with y’all. For those of you new to my series, I am focusing on child abuse and sexual assault during the month of April to bring awareness, provide support and a reminder lest we should ever forget. I hope you are enjoying this experience as much as me.

For today, Q stands for Quotes. Specifically, quotes from men who were sexually assaulted and abused. Too often the focus is on the male perpetrators and yet as I mention in my D for Date Rape post, men are also victims/survivors. So here’s hoping I can give them a voice by repeating some quotes and remind my male readers that you are not alone. Even though many male assaults go unreported, there are others out there. You are not alone.

Tim Roth

Tim Roth quote about finding your voice as a survivor #survivor #abuse #findingyourvoice #quote #timroth #thejoyousliving

Tyler Perry

Tyler Perry quote about his mother #atozchallenge #quote #tylerperry #thejoyousliving

Ozzy Osbourne

Ozzy Osbourne quote about trauma #atozchallenge #ozzyosbourne #traumatic #childabuse #thejoyousliving

I hope today’s post has been insightful and encouraging for our male readers and friends who might feel alone. xx

It is so heartbreaking what a lot of boys go through and I think it is harder for them to talk about it than it is for most girls.

Exactly! Glad these men are able to give a voice for other men and encourage them.

I love Tim Roth, he had a short-lived show "Lie to Me," which was amazing. I'm sorry to hear what he went through as a child.

I like what Tyler Perry said. Abuse is sad, no matter who experiences it, men or women.

It's worth reminding that it's not only women who suffer abuse. Thoughtful post.

You have to appreciate Ozzy's direct, and to the point, nature. I didn't know Tim Roth was a survivor. I already loved him, and this just makes me respect him even more.

Hehe, I thought Ozzy's comment was a good one to end the post on a lighter note ๐Ÿ˜‰

Great quotes! Thank you for addressing the "and what about the men?" topic. I get that question a lot from my students when we discuss rape and sexual assault.

J here, of the #atozchallenge Arlee Bird's A to Z Ambassador Team. Tonight, YOU have been #COMMENTMOBBED with love from #azchat.
How has the challenge been going for you so far? Are you meeting your goals of posting and hopping to other blogs? 3/4 of the way done!
My blog's giveaway is still going. I'm encouraging everyone to visit more stops.

I don't especially want to go into details here. But suffice to say I was blamed for this sort of abuse by a bully.
"That's what you get for leaving to be with the outsiders."
As if any of this were my choice?
But what I took from it was a stronger sense of #HeForShe equality, protection, and understanding for women who have a similar fate.
We, the humans of Earth, should decide that rape is just as bad or worse than murder. Make it culturally unacceptable for the rapist– AND STOP ATTACKING VICTIMS. Ever. No matter what. Period. Without exception. Nope.
Make the criminals the outcasts. Put all the shame on them. Make it a horribly shameful act. The public feelings from the Scarlet Letter? Bring more of that back. (Not the actual letters, but the treatment.) It is NOT civilized behavior. If someone is going to decide to be uncivilized, they should not be rewarded with high fives, drinks, or pats on the back. It's infuriating. There is absolutely no good excuse. Pretending to not have control over oneself is no defense. If you cannot control yourself, you do not belong in a society with civilized people. Utter foolishness.
Guess this comment counts for your post if you opt to quote me on any of it.
