Happy Pancake Day 2015! Who doesn’t love a yummy freshly made pancake?
Today I decided to indulge in an American staple, Krusteaz Buttermilk Pancake Mix. Nothing could be simpler or nicer. However, if you are looking for a good place to eat a pancake – may I recommend Londoners visit My Old Dutch (see below) and LA friends visit BLD Restaurant (see below).

As for Krusteaz, we have the family size bag and what’s great about it is that you pop it in the fridge and it will last for ages (literally!) and all you need to do is add water before pouring it out on the griddle or frying pan. I personally prefer a crepe pan that allows the pancakes to cook through without any of that embarrassing gooey uncooked dough.

And just a few minutes later you have some of traditional goodness in the form of buttermilk pancakes and you can properly indulge in Pancake Day. Yum, yum.
What are some of your favourite recipes for pancakes at home? Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Pancake Mix (available at Amazon) is a close second but it does require more time and work so if you are in a hurry I would best recommend Krusteaz. Can’t go wrong. 😉
Now if you are looking to go out for brunch or some more unusual options, might I recommend Londoners take a stroll over to My Old Dutch where you will find fare such as the “My Old Dutch” savoury pancake seen below with cheese, bacon, chicken, ham, sweet pepper, mushrooms and sweetcorn. For more information, please see my review from June 2014 here.
And LA friends, if you haven’t already checked out BLD Restaurant on Beverly Blvd. (Near the Grove) I do not know what you are waiting for… GO! Their Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes are to die for… yummy. Check out my review from October 2013 here.
Either of these locations would be a perfect brunch spot before indulging in some shopping with the girlfriends. Enjoy! And do let me know some of your favourites.
