Seeing Mickey and Friends at Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast Buffet

A couple times an hour it seems that the music will sound and suddenly Mickey Mouse and his friends (subject to change: Pluto, Chip, Dale, Minnie Mouse) will parade around the restaurant waving at Guests and bringing a big smile of delight to each and every face.

After the parade ends, everyone’s favorite furry friends will come out to visit the Guests signing autograph books, posing for pictures, all the while teasing us and bringing joy to all the Guests who spent the prices listed above for a special experience.

All in all, my friends and I had 7:25 a.m. reservations and were probably at the restaurant for a full two hours before Mickey Mouse finally arrived at our table so if you absolutely must see all the characters best to allow yourself a couple leisurely hours. One family near our table was probably in and out within an hour and missed Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Dale.

Please note that as of the time of this post being written (May 2023), there are no complimentary Disney Photopass photographs at the restaurant and no Photopass photographs nor Character Hosts and Hostesses available to snap photos or videos of you with your favorite ones. Our waitress was kind enough to snap a quick group photo of the table as did a cast member when we saw Mickey Mouse at the end of our breakfast however it is not to be guaranteed.

Accommodating My Allergies at Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast Buffet

Do you have allergies? I do too and am so thankful to the wonderful chefs at the Disney Parks who go above and beyond each time to make sure that I am able to enjoy my meal just as much as the person sitting next to me who has no allergies.

When visiting Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast at Storytellers Cafe, I was provided the option of allergy friendly or regular Mickey Waffles. Due to my allergies, the allergy friendly batter is not Joy friendly so I went with the regular waffles. And let me tell you — these are the best Mickey waffles on property! It’s all about the cinnamon.

While none of my party were vegans, we were still graciously given the opportunity to try the vegan omelet which instead of using eggs and cheese was made with hash browns and avocado. Delicious and such a clever option for any of my vegan friends out there.

For those of you who are allergic to gelatin and natural gums (eg. guar gum), you might want to stay away from the pastries. I was told by the chefs that the pastries are not baked in the restaurant’s kitchen so they was unable to provide specifics related to my allergy or an ingredient list.

Also, I learned that the standard Hollandaise sauce used in the restaurant was not Joy friendly so the chef graciously went above and beyond in whipping up a batch of sauce for me so that I could enjoy their delicious Eggs Benedict.

Each day at any Disney restaurant can be different. There might be a different batter for the waffles, or a different chef in the kitchen, or etc. so my best bit of advice is to never expect anything and always be grateful and gracious. You never know what clever options the chefs can offer so it never hurts to ask but always with a please and thank you.

Parking for Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast Buffet

Are you coming just for breakfast? If so, you can take advantage of COMPLIMENTARY 3-hour parking is included when you dine at Storytellers Cafe. Validation is available at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. After the initial 3-hour period, Guests will be charged standard rates.

Going to Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast before heading into the parks? Best bet is to park at either Mickey and Friends Parking Structure (if coming South on the 5 Freeway) or Toy Story Parking Lot (if coming North on the 5 Freeway) before walking through Downtown Disney District to get to the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa.
