If it hadn’t been for Sgt. Helus’ bravery and self sacrifice, there would have likely been even more casualties at the Borderline shooting. I honestly believe it takes a very special kind of person to become a first responder knowing they could be facing death at any minute. The men and women who are on the front lines are some of the most selfless and wonderful people I know. So in honor of all the great men and women who are fighting the fires in California and in the memory of Sgt. Helus, my greatest thanks to the first responders.
