Where Can I See Endeavour Season 9 in the United States?

Endeavour Season 9 Prelude (the first of 3 final episodes) premieres Sunday, June 18, 2023, 9/8c only on MASTERPIECE on PBS.

Does Jim Strange Marry Joan Thursday?

Ah yes. This has to be one of the most popular questions on the internet.

Since Endeavour Season 9 has already aired in the United Kingdom, the answer can be easily found online. To avoid spoilers for United States viewers, I will leave my thoughts on the results until July 2, 2023, when the finale “Exeunt” airs on PBS.

Suffice it to say that the question of whether Jim Strange and Joan Thursday marry is going to be a key topic that drives the drama for Strange, Morse, and Thursday throughout Endeavour Season 9.

Why is Endeavour Coming to an End?

“After 10 phenomenal years, Mammoth Screen, Russell Lewis, Shaun Evans, and Roger Allam have mutually decided to bring Endeavour to a close. Series 9… will be the last.”

Don’t Forget to Catch Up on Endeavour Season 8 First

“Prelude” was a terrific title for the first of three episodes in Endeavour Season 9. It truly is a “prelude” because after the dark turns in Endeavour Season 7 and Endeavour Season 8, we see how things pick up with Morse, Thursday, Bright, and Strange.

If you failed to catch Endeavour Season 8 episode “Terminus”, you are going to want to catch up for free on Amazon Prime Video before watching “Prelude” or you’ll likely be confused.

Did Shaun Evans Direct Endeavour Season 9 Prelude?

Leading actor Shaun Evans expertly draws out some of the most nuanced performances from himself as well as his colleagues in “Prelude” as he once again picks up mantle of director.

He previously directed himself and his co-stars in “Apollo” in series 6, “Oracle” in series 7, and “Striker” in series 8.

The Bromance of Thursday and Morse in Endeavour Tugs at the Heartstrings

Endeavour Season 9 Roger Allam and Shaun Evans

The strongest and most superbly acted scenes involve [SPOILER] Morse finding out that Joan (Sara Vickers) is engaged to Strange (Sean Rigby). As fans of Inspector Morse, we knew that Morse never married and throughout the series we have seen how Morse and Joan were victims of bad timing. However, it breaks our hearts to see the way that Morse’s heart is breaking.

It breaks our hearts to see the way that Morse’s heart is breaking.

And when Morse (SPOILER) picks up his pint to drink away his sorrows, and we see the way Thursday’s heart grieves for him, we feel a second punch to the gut knowing that this will likely lead to further distancing between the two once good friends. This is a bromance that fans have been invested in since the Pilot Episode debuted in 2012.

As has been the case in the last few seasons, the heart of Endeavour is the bromance and relationship between Thursday and Morse. came from everything that went unsaid between our two leads. Roger Allam and Shaun Evans continue to expertly portray Thursday and Morse’s awkward respect and love. While there are no lengthy speeches or discussions, the emotions ran deep and overwhelm the senses.
