Endeavour Season 9 continues to wrap up with an impressive sense of heroism and honor.

Endeavour Season 9 Roger Allam and Shaun Evans

There was a definite and impressive sense of heroism in Endeavour Season 9, Episode 2 “Uniform” as one by one, our leading men of honor chose good over their own self-interest.

Honor and Heroism in Endeavour Season 9

Endeavour Morse (Shaun Evans) put his own neck and career on the chopping block so as to protect Inspector Thursday’s (Roger Allam) chances of a promotion. Yet, even Thursday was unwilling to take the easy road because he honorably chose to stood shoulder to shoulder with his bagman. And despite being one episode away from his likely retirement, Bright directly defied Division’s orders to support his honorable and heroic men.

Endeavour Season 9 Episode 2 “Uniform”

A crime wave has taken hold of Oxford. A debauched group of undergraduates are wreaking havoc across town, and the death of a uniformed policeman sends shockwaves through Castle Gate.

With the best of intentions, we will refrain from too many spoilers in case you haven’t seen “Uniform” yet.

Quotes from Endeavour Season 9 Episode 2

Our beloved forensic pathologist, Max, gets some of the best quotes of the night:

– You know the deal by now: more answers at the post mortem, see you at 2. Toodles!

– You’re born with nothing and you die with nothing too. Doesn’t matter how much money you have in life.

– We did find a body. And that means they can’t stop the investigation now.

The Foreboding Continues in Endeavour Season 9

As much as we loved watching ACC Bright shine in Endeavour Season 9 Episode 2 “Uniform”, it is hard not to see the difference between him and Fred Thursday and Endeavour Morse.

While Bright is at the end of his career and did not have living family to worry about, since the tragic ending of Season 7, when he rebelled against Division, Fred has a great deal more at risk as was evident during the entertaining Thursday family dinner conversation. And of course there is Morse whom we know has a sad future ahead as an alcoholic and crossword wiz so while it is sad when he misses his opportunities – time and time again – with Miss Thursday and the idea of happiness.

Our heroes only have one episode left before Endeavour, the beloved prequel to Inspector Morse, shutters, and there is a great deal of foreboding. We know that Morse will survive, Max will continue to work with Morse on crime scenes forensics, and Strange will be his Morse’s superior with a mysterious unnamed wife but what of the Thursdays? What will become of our dear ACC Bright? Something is in the wind and I suggest having a box of tissues if you plan on watching.
