Blackberry Beach (book #7 in the Hope Harbor series) is a new Christian romantic fiction novel by Irene Hannon.
What is Blackberry Beach About?
Katherine Parker is on the cusp of having everything she ever wanted–fame, money, and acclaim. So why isn’t she happy? In search of answers, she comes incognito to Hope Harbor on the Oregon coast for some R&R. Maybe in her secluded rental house overlooking the serene Pacific she’ll be able to calm the storm inside.
Coffee shop owner Zach Garrett has found his niche after a traumatic loss–and he has no plans to change the life he’s created. Nor does he want to get involved with his reticent new neighbor, whose past is shrouded in mystery. He’s had enough drama to last a lifetime. But when Katherine and Zach are recruited to help rehab a home for foster children, sparks fly. And as their lives begin to intersect, might they find more common ground than they expected . . . and discover that, with love, all things are possible?
Bestselling and award-winning author Irene Hannon invites you to come home to Hope Harbor–where hearts heal . . . and love blooms.
Is Blackberry Beach Worth Reading?
I will confess that I did not ever read the first six books in the “Hope Harbor” series by Irene Hannon. However, Blackberry Beach seems to be an easy read as a standalone book without needing to actually know any of the other storylines or characters.
However…. it took me a long time to get into the book. If I was not reading the book for review purposes, I probably would have returned it to the library half-read. I don’t know if it is because I didn’t already know the characters from previous books in the series or if it is just the writer’s typical writing style. The main characters were neither likable nor disgusting. They were ‘blah’. And the action seemed to be sloooooooow burning.
Those who are seeking a clean romance, this qualifies.
However, if you want a quick read, this is not the book I would recommend for you.
For me, the redeeming quality of Blackberry Beach has to be the delicious sounding food and the surprising secondary romance story that is in fact even more interesting then the primary storyline.
Disclaimer: I received my digital copy of Blackberry Beach from Netgalley and Revell Reads. All opinions are my own though.
