Today we celebrated the beautiful life of George Floyd with his family and friends thanks to the cable streaming of his Minneapolis memorial.
In honor of his name and in support of my sisters and brothers who are members of minorities, I have been sharing lists of t.v. shows with persons of color as the leads and roles on Broadway that were specifically written for minorities.
Today I want to share 7 quotes and verses about equality. And without judging my fellow mankind, might I kindly ask that we all take a deep breath and avoid speaking words of hate and anger and instead focus on surrounding one another with love and support?
#1. Martin Luther King, Jr.
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they are not judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”
#2. President John F. Kennedy
“If we cannot now end our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity.”
#3. Galatians 3:23-29
“Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.” (ESV)
#4. President Abraham Lincoln
“These men ask for just the same thing, fairness, and fairness only. This, so far as in my power, they, and all others, shall have.”
#5. Pope Francis
“If they accept the Lord and have good will, who am I to judge them?”
#6. Billy Graham
“It is the Holy Spirit’s job to convict, God’s job to judge and my job to love.”
#7. 1 John 4:7-8
“Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.”
