Autumn is just 5 days away! So how best should we celebrate this Tuesday?
Rebecca: La Prima Moglie. (c) Rai Uno.

Tip #15:

Do yourself a favor and try out a foreign language film. You’ll be surprised how much you might enjoy it and what you will learn.

Some of my favorites are:
Rebecca: La Prima Moglie (Rai TV) – Italian Language. I have not been able to find and English subtitles but thankfully I know the general story well enough to follow along. (Youtube Part I) (Amazon DVD Region 2)

La Rafle (The Roundup) – French Language with English Subtitles. About the true story of the infamous Vel d’Hiv Roundup starring Jean Reno and Melanie Laurent. Stellar cast and filming. Don’t forget the tissue.

The Sicilian Girl. Italian Language with English Subtitles. About the true story of Rita Atria who broke the code of silence and gave evidence against the Mafia. I believe there is some adult content but it’s been a while since I’ve watched it.

Ekaterina: The Rise of Catherine the Great. Russian with English subtitles. Lush and gorgeous production about Catherine the Great’s arrival and early years in Russia. The second season covers her reign after the coup. Adult content is relatively mild throughout. You can also get the gorgeous soundtrack here.

What is your favorite foreign language film?
