BOOKS: Nighty Night and Good Night

Book Review: Nighty Night and Good Night. (c) the Joyous Living

Nighty Night and Good Night is the first book in a series of bedtime books by multiple Grammy and Dove Award-winning recording artist Michael W. Smith and VeggieTales co-creator Mike Nawrocki. In Nighty Night and Good Night, the stuffed animal band "The Nighty Nights" are called upon to help their friend Ben fall to sleep. The bandmates, Lamby, Bear, and Sleepy Puppy, discover that a classic lullaby might be exactly what they are looking for.

If you purchase this book, you'll also receive a link to listen to Michael W. Smith sing the same lullaby that helps put Ben to sleep.

Founded by Michael W. Smith, Nurturing Steps is an infant and toddler series of children’s music and books with a simple mission to enliven a child’s journey with hope and faith through music and storytelling.

“One of the greatest joys of my life is being a parent and a grandparent. I want to serve the next generation well. That’s why I created Nurturing Steps, to provide stories and songs that will help shape the faith of our newest generation.” - Michael W. Smith

I've loved Michael W. Smith's music since I can remember. His cassette tapes were stacked in our car growing up. That's why I knew I had to check out this adorable toddler book. With its sturdy cardboard cover, the book is ideal for toddlers' chubby and somewhat clumsy fingers and it should be easy to wipe off any sticky jam.

The drawings by Tod Carter and Chuck Vollmer are beautiful in soft pastels so as to keep the little ones from being over stimulated at bedtime. And I just love the different characters that Michael W. Smith and Mike Nawrocki created -- especially Lamby (my mom called me Lamby as a child) and he's just so cute!
