AtoZ: Que Veulent les Femme

Good morning friends! I'm chugging along with my A to Z Challenge. Q was sure to be a tough one but I fudged and found a song (Que veulent les femme) that started with Q.

Que Veulent les Femme is Rhett Butler's number from Autant En Emporte Le Vent (Gone With the Wind) when he is drunk and goes to visit Belle at her brothel when he is hurt over Scarlett's infatuation for Ashley. It is interesting that no English version of Gone With the Wind has succeeded whereas this French version by Gérard Presgurvic who brought you Romeo et Juliette was a success in France with a cast recording and film.
It seems it is tough to find a recording for sale in the States so there does appear to be a recording/playlist to listen to and watch on Youtube in the meantime with optional Russian subtitles.

What is your favourite French musical? Share in the comments below!

  1. Ha! I wondered why it succeeded in France but not in the US... but then I remembered that it's a pretty sensitive topic in the US, and gets a lot of critique, which makes sense. When I was little, it was just a pretty story, because I did not know the historical background. :D

  2. I've seen the movie several times and read the book. And I've seen the Hallmark channel version of the sequel. But a musical version? That's news to me.
