series on the Santa Barbara Zoo and its gorgeous offerings? Today I am thrilled to share with you one of the zoo's most beautiful residents -- the Himalayan Monal Pheasant.
At a zoo that is renowned for its beauty and gorgeous location near the California coast, it is only right that they should feature the gorgeous Himalayan Monal Pheasant in their walk-through aviary.
Habitat: Mountainous regions; in summer, they are found in rocky, grass covered meadows and winters in coniferous and mixed forests. At the Santa Barbara Zoo, they are commonly sighted on the rocks in the walk-through aviary.
The males are adorned with beautiful metallic colors
of green, purple, red and blue and have a
very long crest, much like a peacock.

Parking (in the zoo's lot): $7 (non-member); 1 free car (member)
