BritWeek: A Royal Treat!

30 April 2016

Hi Lovelies! Remember how yesterday I went to a tasting and preview of Royal Chef Darren McGrady's royal inspired desserts for Sunday's BritWeek Gala? Well it's time to unveil some of the scrumptious and mouth-watering goodness. Get out your imaginary forks and enjoy!
At the British Consul General's residence in LA, the doors were open and the well-lit dining room was graciously opened to the media. As we were ushered into the dining room, there was a mouth-watering spread of desserts on the pristine white table cloth.
Are you ready? Remember, there's no going back after you start salivating over these goodies!
First up: Bread and Butter Pudding, a favourite of the late Princess Diana. Chef McGrady has graciously posted the recipe on his website here. And if the photo isn't tempting enough remember that Princess Diana told Nigel Dempster, the Royal Reporter at the Daily Mail, that "Darren makes the best bread and butter pudding in the world!"
Next Up: Prince William and Her Majesty the Queen's favourite --  Chocolate Biscuit Cake!
And then there was the traditional chocolate birthday cake that was served. Mind you, Chef McGrady and the rest of the Royal Chefs never wrote "Your Majesty" or any other name on the cake. It was always signed and served simply, "Happy Birthday".
And because this is BritWeek and we were at the British Consulate General's residence, there was a lovely tea service featuring Earl Grey tea, milk and sugar.
Have I got your mouths watering for more? Trust me, more is on its way!! Stay tuned to find out what Consul General Chris O'Connor and Downton Abbey's actor Lesley Nicol's favourite puddings are... and you might just hear a funny story or two about Royal Chef McGrady's time in the royal kitchens. Until then, tickets for tomorrow's BritWeek Gala, where you'll be able to sample some of these heavenly creations, are still on sale.
Yours truly with Lesley Nicol and Consul General Chris O'Connor.
Cheers! x
