Conejo Players: 2016 Season

The Conejo Players is wrapping up their 2015 season with Stephen Sondheim's Follies from 13 November - 13 December following a delightful, energetic and entertaining production of Jason Robert Brown's 13 the Musical that just shuttered. It was certainly a great way to launch into autumn, showcasing the talents of many local teenage thespians including standout Haley Hallman (someone producers should seriously be looking at for their future Dorothy in Wizard of the Oz).

The upcoming 2016* season looks rich with potential and diversity featuring:

  • Tim Kelly's Hound of the Baskervilles (8 January - 30 January 2016) features everyone's favorite British detective.
    • Auditions are the 15th-17th of November (see here).
  • Family favorite, Wizard of Oz, will be the feature spring musical (11 March - 10 April 2016) and again here's hoping the producers look at casting the delightful and talented Haley Hallman as their Dorothy.
  • Dark and provocative Amadeus will be performed the 6th - 28th of May 2016. While it is fifty shades historically incorrect, it is a great piece for two very talented actors to prove themselves. Hopefully the casting will be spot-on.
  • In July, the raucous and NOT family appropriate musical, Reefer Madness (rated R), will be performed. It is a satirical political commentary on marijuana, sex, violence, and more.
Further down the line, Conejo Players will be producing the timely political drama, Farragut North (rated PG-13) from 26 August 'til 17 September, the children's classic, James and the Giant Peach (1-9 October 2016) and one of my all-time favorites, the beautiful Side Show (11 November - 11 December 2016).

Truly, what a diverse and entertaining season they have planned for us! For more information about Conejo Players, season tickets, and more, visit their website at: www.conejoplayers.org.  For a review of their 2015 summer musical, Godspell, check out mine here.
