While you might not recognize the show immediately, you would be hard pressed not to recognize the long list of films and musicals who owe their creation to the success of She Loves Me including the 1998 romantic comedy, You've Got Mail, starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. Also, who can ignore the star power associated with the leading roles of Georg & Amalia? Barbara Cook, Barry Bostwick, Gemma Craven, Boyd Gaines, Judy Kuhn, John Robert Sinclair and Ruthie Henshall have all lit up the stage in these iconic roles. Better yet in 2016, Laura Benanti and Zachary Levi will be headlining Roundabout's revival! In this local production, local favorites, Brandon Lloyd and Becca Peyton (Pictured Above), will be starring respectively as Georg and Amalia.
The numbers are catchy, charming and clever with favorites including Amalia's Vanilla Ice Cream, the comedic duet of Where's My Shoe? and Georg's She Loves Me. Truly this is a gem of a musical that will please viewers of all ages, genders and persuasions. If only they made musicals like this nowadays.
