D23: Fanniversary

D23 has announced this week that the 60th anniversary of the beloved animated film, Lady and the Tramp, will be the biggest anniversary celebration yet and it is coming to families via the D23 website starting on the 29th of May 2015 (T-minus 10 days)!

Starting on the 29th of May, fans will be able to download invites, decorations, crafts, games and even a traditional spaghetti and meatballs recipe (courtesy of The Chew).
The official party will take place from the 12th - 14th of June with D23 unveiling new content about Lady and the Tramp including:
- a series of the original "Scamp" comics
- a gallery of Lady and the Tramp items from the Walt Disney Archives
I in particular am excited that D23 will be live tweeting fun facts, commentary and questions for the audience on Twitter. I still remember watching Lady and the Tramp with the family on VHS in the 80s/90s. What a classic and beloved story with a memorable score, great characters including those Siamese cats, and a few tear-jerk moments (don't forget the Kleenex!). Parents, if you have yet to share the magic of Lady and the Tramp with your kiddos, this is the perfect opportunity! D23 promises some great crafts and games that will help whet the appetites of your children.
And for us adults and Disney fans, I know D23 promises some great treats such as the spaghetti and meatballs recipe, comics, items from the Walt Disney Archives. There will even be a "selfie station" where we can put our #selfie taking skills to good use and pose as the film's canine couple enjoying a plate of pasta at Tony's Restaurant. Don't  laugh, I have a feeling this will be quite popular on social media. :)
For those of you who don't know much about D23 - it is the Official Disney Fan Club that provides fans with a quarterly newsletter, members-only content at, member-exclusive discounts and special events including the upcoming D23Expo happening August 14-16 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
