Scentbird: Perfume by Subsciption?

07 April 2015

What girl doesn't love a beautiful smelling fragrance? Better yet, what guy doesn't love for his girl to wear something special? Perfumes make some of the most expensive, romantic and intimate of purchases and gifts so there's always a risk you'll buy the wrong one or be in the market for a new scent before your current bottle is empty.
Scentbird is a new subscription service catered for today's modern woman.

Are you like me and enjoy an assortment of scents to match your mood and/or the time of year? I for example love Vera Wang's Princess during the spring and summer seasons while gravitating to Armani Diamonds during the colder months.
The brilliance of their subscription service is that unlike beauty boxes that come filled with surprises (some being items you wouldn't want to ever use) you can CHOOSE your product each month.
Scentbird requires new members to go through a quick Q&A process akin to most other subscription services in order to decipher your scent preference. The website will then recommend a personalized list of scents based on your scent preference. You are not required to choose your monthly scents from among those recommendations and can decide from among the entire Scentbird catalog of fragrances and the monthly recommendation.
For my first fragrance, I chose L'eau d'Issey by Issey MiyakeEach fragrance comes with a standard description, scent type, perfume personality, occasion, season as well as recommendations and reviews by fellow Scentbird subscribers. I believe the description, scent type, personality and occasion are all spot on for the Issey Miyake I received.
After making your selection, you will receive by mail (free shipping) a Scentbird pouch with a Scentbird purse spray and a complimentary pouch and case (with your first order)
There also comes with your package, a postcard sized instructional card explaining the quick steps for how to use the spray and pouch.  (No, the Starbucks is not included although it makes a nice combination. ;))
The purse spray holds 8ml of fragrance that Scentbird claims will allow you to apply twice a day for 30 days. Just like a lipstick, you twist the purse spray case up and wa-la you are able to squirt and apply your perfume before twisting again to close the case. It's as easy as that!
And the vials are recyclable so at the end of the month toss the vial into the recycle bin and inter your latest vial into your Scentbird case.
So what do I think?
-PROS-
- The process couldn't be easier.
- $14.95 per month won't break most women's banks.
- The ability to have a wide assortment of fragrances versus one or two full-sized bottles can be beneficial and helpful.
- Great customer service from a small and friendly company.
-CONS-
- You're gambling on whether you'll like the fragrance (no testers available online versus the department stores).

If you would like to check out Scentbird, visit their website at www.scentbird.com and start the Fragrance Profile Quiz. Have fun and do tell me what you think.
xx
Disclaimer: I was generously gifted my first Scentbird in exchange for this review but my opinions and photos are all my own.
