Pancake Heaven!

While mum and dad were in town, I took mum out for brunch at My Old Dutch in Chelsea before some shopping. If only we had bigger stomachs. :D
With an orange mug of tea in hand, mum and I enjoyed a leisurely conversation while waiting for our meal talking about all the new things happening in our lives.
And then the food came out and boy did we wish we had bigger stomachs. Everything was delicious.
I had the "My Old Dutch" savoury pancake that I had last time when I visited w/ the girls and mum had butterscotch pancakes (American style) with eggs and bacon.
Go on you know you want to take another look at that gigantic pancake of mine.
Look at all the cheese, bacon, chicken, ham, sweet pepper, mushrooms and sweetcorn. Yum!
And what's better is that on Mondays there is a £5 savoury pancake deal.
So next Monday, if you are in the neighbourhood go check out My Old Dutch and try out one of their savoury pancakes.

Father's Day at The Flask

The Flask is perhaps my favourite pub in London with its great history, design and rural ambiance. So on the 15th of June, I took my dad and mum to The Flask for a Father's Day dinner. Dating back to 1663, The Flask was the regular drinking place for the likes of Samuel Taylor Coleridge and William Hogarth. Being an history affectionato, I knew my dad would appreciate this pub too.
We grabbed a couple drinks at the bar while waiting for our table (reservations can be made online).
The menu is printed daily and we chose the burger, cod and chips, and rib eye while enjoy the view from our window table.
For my American readers - if you want some free water for the table while you are eating out, you need to ask the waiter for a jug of tap water.
Fresh bread and oil were brought to our table with the water while we waited on the meal.
And finally the food arrived and we dove in. It was all delicious and everyone enjoyed themselves.
After our meal, we ordered a couple teas and coffees while perusing the dessert menu.
Mum and dad shared a sticky toffee pudding and I got a refreshing scoop of mango sorbet.
Do you need another look? Go ahead -- it was delicious. And even if its not a celebratory occasion, you should visit The Flask in Highgate for a drink and/or meal with a friend or two.
Happy Father's Day, Daddy. Glad you had a great time. xx

Changing of the Guard

Sunday, after our leisurely walk through Green Park I took my parents through the nearby Hyde Park in order to see pageantry at Buckingham Palace --- The Changing of the Guard.
En route we saw soldiers on horseback leaving the park.
But what followed at Buckingham Palace was great -- pageantry at its best.
And just look at the swarms of tourists - such as ourselves - who came to watch!
And at the hour it began! We were on the left side of the mall and would recommend standing on the right side to see everything in its grandeur.

And the tourists just kept coming...
When we saw the police on horseback moving, we knew something exciting was about to happen.
 And out they came!
 And even more.
Did I mention how long this post was going to be? Obviously I took too many pictures.
What a great experience! Even if you are unable to see through the gates, the pageantry seen outside the gates is fabulous and well worth it.
For more information about the Changing of the Guard and when/where you can see it, visit their website.
