A Stroll Down Santa Monica Blvd.

06 October 2013

Today brought a delightful treat! My cousin, Raymond, flew into LAX for work and was able to spend the day with the family. *Awesome!* After chilling at the house we headed down to Santa Monica Blvd. by way of PCH.

Thanks to Yelp, we decided to grab lunch at Seasalt Fish Grill at 508 Santa Monica Boulevard (between 5th Street and 6th Street). The restaurant is fairly narrow inside but there are two floors so we grabbed a table upstairs which supplied a magnificent view of the restaurant. Order downstairs and the servers will bring your dishes to your table when they're ready.

After consulting with the girl at the register, we ordered from their "fresh fish off the grill" menu. I ordered the salmon in creamy butter garlic. It was fresh and extra tasty thanks to the seasoning. I ended up using the rice and vegetables to soak up the rest of the butter garlic sauce. Yum. Yum.

Mum ordered their ahi tuna with the soy ginger glaze and thought it was a bit too dry and the glaze was not spicy despite the waitress' recommendation.

Yours truly and my darlin' cousin, Raymond.

After lunch, we walked down to the 3rd Street Promenade and grabbed gelato from Caffe Bellagio. Considering it was a hot day, we indulged in scoops of gelato.  I got a single scoop of the cookies 'n cream gelato in a sugar cone.  The flavor was good, nothing exceptional, but on a hot day like today it definitely cooled us down. Single scoops are $3.50 and sugar cones are free.
FYI - If you like them on Facebook you'll get 15% off the receipt. Score!

From 3rd Street Promenade, we strolled down to the famed boardwalk and joined the hordes of tourists. Even in October, it felt like the middle of summer with the crush of bodies on the boardwalk.
