Memorial Day Weekend @ Disneyland

31 May 2013

Tuesday, on an impressively beautiful day,
I jumped in the car and drove down the 101 and 5 freeways towards the Happiest Place on Earth.

American flags covered the buildings and lampposts on Main Street and throughout both parks.
But first, I had to buy a Starbucks Mocha Light Frappuccino
which is just that much more delightful thanks to the Disney cups.

One of the perks of going to a theme park alone is that you can stop and catch a show impromptu whenever you like. Take for instance these adorable Disney Newsboys in California Adventure.

And then there was the Disneyland Band playing on Main Street U.S.A. in Disneyland.

And of course, one must see a few of your favorite characters, yes?

My former boss circa 2007

Yes, that's TWO different Belles!
#1 is more of my ideal Belle; what about you?

One of the perks of being a Disney Visa cardholder is a Character Meet-N-Greet and free 5x7 photo.

Last but not least, I chanced upon a California Adventure Jazz Quartet that performed alongside Goofy. Love those vests, hats, shades, and ties!

So have you ever gone to a theme park solo? Single rider queues and the opportunity to chat with the friendly cast members while people watching can make for a very entertaining couple of hours.

Hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend!!

Picnic Fun!

26 May 2013

Who doesn't love a good bbq + picnic with friends?
Hope you all are having a great Memorial Day weekend!
Be safe!!

me w/ my bestie and her best little girl!

R's new word for the day "down!" :)

R definitely knows how to rock a hat! My kind of girl! ;-)

Last but not least, I have discovered the amazingness known as, Hispanic Corn on the Cob!

1. Mix together 3 parts mayonnaise and 1 part mustard; lather on freshly grilled corn on the cob

2. roll the corn on the cob in a pan of parmesan cheese

(are you salivating yet?)

3. add a side of lime and hot sauce, if you choose.

4. and... ENJOY!

(I think I inhaled mine! Delicious!)

Happy Memorial Day.

Baking in the Kitchen!

25 May 2013

heavenly blueberries!
Who doesn't try at least one new recipe during the Memorial Day weekend?

Well, thanks to The Londoner (see her blog under my blogroll), I tested out a recipe she has entitled, Red, White and Blueberry! Seemed patriotic and I do love me some white chocolate and blueberries so why not put them together, yes? The frosting is to die for (rich white chocolate! I used only the best -- thank you Godiva!) and hopefully the Sunday school teachers tomorrow will enjoy! Until then, might I wet your appetite a wee bit? :)

Red velvet brownie!
Godiva white chocolate frosting!
All together now... YUM!

the finished product: Red, White and Blueberry!

So what are y'all making this weekend?

I LOVE four day weekends, don't you?
Maizy Kisses
I LOVE four day weekends, don't you?

I've been house-sitting for one of my favorite little fur balls, Maizy, so my weekend started off with cuddles and kisses and more cuddles as I made breakfast and did my devotion. Now to the grocery store so I can make something festive and yummy for this weekend...
What are your four-day weekend plans? Anyone at Disney's 24-hr madness? Lol. I'll leave the crowds to the young ones... :)

Hugs & Kisses,
Joy Michelle

A Joyous Quinceañera

23 May 2013

I had never been to a Quinceañera before but having previously worked at Walt Disney World, I knew it was reason to have a spectacular celebration ball in the Magic Kingdom.

This past Sunday, I was invited to attend Corinne's Quinceañera at our church. She is sweetness itself and had been in my middle school small group several years ago so I jumped at the possibility of attending her celebration. The evening did not fail to impress. Words would do it an injustice.
